2027 Medicare Star Ratings: All Kaiser Permanente health plans highly rated by CMS
PR Newswire
OAKLAND, Calif., Oct. 26, 2026
The organization continues to earn high marks for providing high-quality, coordinated care and service to its more than 2 million Medicare Advantage health plan members.
OAKLAND, Calif., Oct. 26, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — For the third consecutive year (2025–2027), every Kaiser Permanente Medicare health plan earned 4 stars or higher in the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services 2027 Medicare Star Ratings, with nearly all plans earning 4.5 stars or higher.
Each year, CMS rates Medicare health and prescription drug plans using a 1-to-5-star scale. The ratings help consumers compare the quality of available plans.
- Senior Care Plus, now Kaiser Permanente’s Medicare health plan in Nevada, earned 5 stars for the second year in a row (2026–2027). It is the only 5-star plan in the state and 1 of only 15 in the nation to earn the highest rating.
- Kaiser Permanente’s Medicare health plans in Hawaii and California (HMO and Dual Eligible Special Needs Plan, or D-SNP) are tied for highest rated in their markets.
- Kaiser Permanente’s Medicare health plans in the Northwest and Washington regions and its California D-SNP each earned 4.5 stars, a half-star increase from the previous ratings cycle.
The high ratings reflect Kaiser Permanente’s focus on expert medicine, seamless care, and outstanding service for its Medicare health plan members.
Ratings reflect care, service, and member experience
CMS bases its Medicare star ratings on measures that reflect the quality of care and service health plans provide.
These measures include:
- Preventive care: How well health plans help members stay healthy
- Chronic condition management: How well plans manage ongoing health conditions
- Member experience: How members rate their care and interactions with the plan
- Customer service: How well plans respond to member needs and questions
- Access to care: How easily members can get the care they need
- Pharmacy services: How well plans provide access to prescription medications
“These star ratings shine a light on the exceptional care and service we provide our Medicare health plan members,” said Andrew Bindman, MD, executive vice president and chief medical officer for Kaiser Permanente. “We are proud that these results recognize our ongoing commitments to prevention, timely treatment, access to care, and high-quality service.”
Kaiser Permanente provides care to more than 2 million Medicare Advantage health plan members in 9 states and the District of Columbia.
“We’re grateful to our highly skilled doctors, nurses, clinicians, and other team members,” said Letitia Bridges, MD, executive vice president and chief quality officer for The Permanente Federation. “Maintaining these high ratings and increasing our stars in 3 plans demonstrates the value of our unique coordinated care model that brings together clinicians and team members to continuously improve the quality of care we provide.”
